AI visibility checker
Enter a URL to see whether AI assistants can crawl, read and quote it. The checker tests robots.txt access for ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI crawlers, then checks indexing controls, llms.txt, structured data, answer-friendly content and metadata, and gives you a 0-100 score with fixes in plain English.

What the AI visibility checker looks at
AI answer engines work like search engines with a reading habit: a crawler fetches your page, a parser pulls out the text and facts, and the answer cites the pages it could actually read. This checker runs the same steps on one URL and scores what it finds.
- AI crawler access in robots.txt. Every major AI user-agent is checked against your rules for this exact path: OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User (ChatGPT), Claude-SearchBot and Claude-User (Claude), PerplexityBot and Perplexity-User, plus the training crawlers GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, CCBot, meta-externalagent, Amazonbot and Bytespider, and classic Googlebot and Bingbot.
- Indexing controls. noindex, nosnippet, max-snippet and noai in meta tags and the X-Robots-Tag header.
- llms.txt. Whether
/llms.txtand/llms-full.txtexist and follow the llmstxt.org format. - Structured data. JSON-LD blocks, whether they parse, and which schema.org types they declare.
- Answer-friendly content. How many words are in the server HTML (most AI crawlers don't run JavaScript), the heading outline, question-style headings and FAQ markup.
- Metadata. Title, meta description, canonical, Open Graph tags and the page language.
- Sitemap. Whether a sitemap exists, is listed in robots.txt, and includes the page.
How the score works
The score adds up eight parts: AI search crawler access (20 points), classic search access (15), indexing controls (15), content in the server HTML (15), metadata (15), structured data (10), llms.txt (5) and headings (5). A page that returns an error status is capped at 10. Blocking AI training crawlers doesn't cost points: that's a licensing choice, not a visibility problem.
How to rank in ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity
Start with access: if robots.txt blocks OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT can't fetch the page to cite it. Then make the page easy to quote: one clear H1, a direct answer in the first paragraph, question-style subheadings, and FAQ or HowTo structured data where it fits. Keep the content in the HTML your server sends, and keep it indexable in Google and Bing, because several assistants build on those indexes.
FAQ
AI visibility checker questions
What is AI visibility?
AI visibility is how easily AI assistants and answer engines (ChatGPT search, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Gemini, Bing Copilot) can find, read and quote your pages. It depends on crawler access in robots.txt, indexability, content that exists in the server HTML, structured data and clear metadata.
How do I rank in ChatGPT?
There is no ranking you can buy or submit to. ChatGPT search cites pages it can fetch and understand: let OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User through robots.txt, keep the page indexable, serve the main content as HTML (not only JavaScript), answer questions directly near the top, and add schema.org structured data. The same basics apply to Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI answers.
Should I block GPTBot and other AI crawlers?
That's a business choice. Training crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, CCBot) collect data for model training; blocking them doesn't remove you from AI search. Search and user-visit crawlers (OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot) are the ones that fetch pages to cite them in answers. This checker reports the two groups separately.
Does this tool guarantee my site will appear in AI answers?
No. It checks the technical signals AI tools depend on. Whether an assistant cites you also depends on your content, authority and the question asked. Fixing what's flagged removes the reasons you'd be skipped.
What do you do with the URL I enter?
MegaMCP fetches the page, robots.txt, llms.txt, llms-full.txt and one sitemap from your site, like a crawler would, and shows you the result. The result is cached for about 10 minutes to save repeat work. We don't store the URL with anything personal, and private or internal addresses are refused.
How often should I check AI visibility?
After every site release, CMS plugin update or robots.txt change, because a single Disallow line can hide a site from AI search overnight. MegaMCP customers get this check on a schedule for every client site, with alerts when something changes.
Stop checking by hand
MegaMCP runs these checks automatically for every client, every week.
Connect your sites and ad accounts once. MegaMCP audits them on a schedule, reports what changed, and proposes fixes you approve before anything is touched. Every change is previewed as a diff and can be undone.
