Explained
A marketing MCP server might offer tools such as google_ads_search_terms, ga4_traffic_summary or wordpress_seo_audit. Behind each tool, the server calls the platform's own API with the user's authorization.
Servers can be local (installed on your machine, often using your own API keys) or remote (hosted, reached by URL, with browser sign-in). Claude calls remote servers connectors; ChatGPT calls them apps.
The important differences between servers are what they can reach, whether they can write, and what happens before a write: a good server for accounts that spend money previews every change and waits for a human approval.
