Definition

Budget pacing compares how much a campaign or client has spent so far this month with how much it should have spent by now. Pacing % = month-to-date spend ÷ (monthly budget × days elapsed ÷ days in month) × 100.

Explained

Above 100% is over-pacing; below is under-pacing. A common alert band is 85% to 115%. Use complete days only, because today's spend is partial and delayed.

The fix for a pacing problem is the required daily budget: (monthly budget − spend so far) ÷ days remaining.

Agencies pace per client across every ad platform, not per campaign. MegaMCP's portfolio pacing sums Google Ads, Meta Ads, Microsoft Ads, TikTok, Reddit and Pinterest spend per client.
