A guardrail is a hard limit enforced by software, not by a prompt, that blocks unsafe changes, such as any budget above a set maximum. Spend guardrails keep AI mistakes from becoming expensive.

Explained
Effective guardrails are server-side, can't be edited by the AI, and are checked at the moment a change is applied, not only when it's proposed.
MegaMCP's budget bumpers set a maximum daily budget per campaign and a maximum percentage increase per change for each ad account. They're checked when a plan is made and again before it applies; enabling a paused campaign counts as raising its budget from zero. Only admins can change them, in the dashboard.
Other guardrails include creating new ads and campaigns paused, and expiring stale plans.
